Supersymmetry Searches in the CMS detector
For SUSY models, with a stable particle we expect to measure a huge momentum imbalance in the detector. The proton-proton collisions can produce heavy SUSY particles which immediately disintegrate into Standard Model particles and a stable SUSY particle which exits the detector. The CMS detector captures this process as a collection of jets which are hadronic streams of particles from energetic quarks/gluons and a large momentum imbalance of the measured jets. We quantify this momentum imbalance as Missing Hadronic energy for jets above a certain transverse momentum. The SUSY searches with missing energy and jets have managed to probe high gluino and stop masses and probe a large number of SUSY models. We hope to extend the sensitivity to SUSY particles like Higgsinos as well to cast a wide net of possible SUSY signatures.
